Accordion doesn't work with my theme/script/snippet.
Why does this happen?
Like many other dynamic pages, Accordion uses Javascript to work its magic. Accordion uses a library called MooTools at its core. MooTools and other Javascript libraries strive to get more interoperable with each release, but in many cases it's simply not possible.
What makes these libraries incompatible?
Sometimes the issue comes as the result of a tool that relies on a different version of MooTools. Sometimes it's the result of another library that does very similar things to MooTools and the two step on each other's toes. And sometimes it's simply that both are trying to modify the same content on the page and make assumptions that are invalidated by the other.
Why Now?
MooTools 1.11 was getting quite old (by internet standards). And we've received many requests to update to a more recent version. We have resisted for a very long time as we knew that it would create some incompatibilities. At some point the number of problems that were cropping up from not changing eclipsed the number of problems the change would create and then we knew it was time.
Is there a fix?
In a few rare instances these incompatibilities can be corrected by updating one effect or the other. Often if both effects are using the same version of the same library they can coexist on the same page.
In the cases where getting both effects onto the same version of the same library is not possible, then it's likely that coexistence is simply not possible.
Now what?
The best way forward is to move your whole page at the same time
-- and your whole site if you can. This means waiting for or
choosing themes and plugins that are on the same version.
We know that it will be difficult for some to keep using the old
versions of our plugins -- so during this time of change we are not
introducing very many enticing new features. So those that have to
wait a little while won't be missing too much.
How do I get the old version?
All the old versions of our plugins are available on our Plugin Archive. You can find it on our Download page.
