math functions in Stacks 2 or 3
Hi,
Please help me understand if Stacks 2 or 3 can be used with rapidweaver to all ow me to build a form where either numeric values are input or are chosen from a list and math functions are executed between these form input boxes. IE someone inputs an hourly wage in whole nums and decimals, in next box plugs in hours of overtime and may or may not need to hit a compute button and a mathematically derived answer is presented in yet another "box". This entails using hourly rate x 1456 then adding the sum of an overtime (time and a half) rate times the annual overtime hours to the previous sum. Am I mad? Certainly out of my depth, but I must press onward into the fog
Thanks,
David

Hi David,
Thanks for the message.
I am not aware of any add ons that are maths/calculation based.
Stacks has only just reached version 2, so version 3 is a way off yet I'd guess.
Calculations like that take either javascript or PHP type programming languages rather than only HTML and CSS which are based on displaying content. You would usually either need to go down the route of learning Javascript or PHP to program this type of thing or employ someone to do it for you.
It is possible there are scripts on the web you can try and make use of to do this, you would need to do some 'Googleing' on that.
In terms of learning, look possibly at the W3Schools site, or Learnable.com or SitePoint.com for books.
Kind regards,
Karn.
